Purity is Gone
Nazis banged, come now, quickly over this way, Parents begged, please don't take our children away, Some brought to Ghettos, and left there astray, Some brought to camps, for a permanent stay. Once filled, innocence and purity, Not stable, Mentally or morally, Smiling faces, were once what surrounded me, In emotionless eyes, you see true catastrophe. Ashes as dark, as the cloud over my head, Feeling of emptiness, but not because I wasn't fed, The feeling of sadness, soon turned to dread, The bottomless feeling, of your life hanging by a thread. Horrid memories forever on my brain, stuck to me like tar, The wounds may be healed, but they leave a permanent scar, From our past, we can't run far, No longer in the camp, but still wearing the star. |
